Located at Praia do Pego, in Comporta, we offer intermediate surf coaching with certified instructors, small groups and personalized feedback to help you understand the ocean better and surf with more control.

What You Learn in an Intermediate Surf Lesson
Intermediate surf lessons focus on helping you become a more confident, independent and aware surfer.
Depending on your level and the sea conditions, our instructors may work on:
- Consolidating your base position;
- Learning how to read the sea;
- Understanding the best position in the water;
- Improving your timing when paddling for waves;
- Learning how to ride along the wave face;
- Making “S” curves;
- Improving control, balance and body movement;
- Introducing or improving maneuvers such as top turn, bottom turn and cutback.
Every lesson is adapted to your level, so progression happens step by step, with close guidance from the instructor and without unnecessary pressure.
How Intermediate Surf Lessons Work
Our intermediate surf lessons are around 2 hours long, broken down as follows:
- First 30 minutes: getting ready, putting on wetsuits, warming up, and practicing key movements on the sand;
- Next 1h15 minutes: time spent in the water, where you’ll be catching waves, improving your positioning and working on your technique.
You’re free to take breaks whenever you need. The focus is on improving your technique, gaining confidence and learning at your own pace.
Most lessons take place at Praia do Pego, where Imagine Surf School is based.
Group, Private or Surf Course: What’s Best for You?
Intermediate surfers can choose between group lessons, private lessons or surf lesson packs, depending on their goals, experience and how fast they want to progress.
Group Intermediate Surf Lessons
Group lessons are a good option if you want to improve your surfing while sharing the experience with other surfers.
They are social, fun and still taught in small groups, so the instructor can adapt the lesson to the level of the students and the sea conditions of the day.
Private Intermediate Surf Lessons
Private lessons are the best option if you want faster progression and more individual feedback.
With one-to-one coaching, your instructor can focus on your specific goals, such as improving your positioning, timing, turning technique, confidence in green waves or control on the wave face.
Surf Courses for Intermediate Surfers
If you want real progression, we recommend booking a 3, 5 or 10 lesson surf course.
Through several sessions, you can build consistency, correct habits and gradually improve your technique, confidence and understanding of the ocean.
How much are intermediate surf lessons?
Group intermediate surf lessons cost €50 per person. If you want to progress faster, you can book one of our surf lesson packs or choose a private lesson for more personalized feedback.

Yes. We operate every day, but schedules depend on tides and sea conditions to ensure the best learning experience. Advance booking is required.
What happens if the weather or ocean conditions are not good?
If conditions are not safe, the lesson will be rescheduled or fully refunded.
How many lessons do I need to improve?
It depends on your current level, goals and how often you surf. For real progression, we usually recommend several lessons over a few days, especially through one of our 3, 5 or 10 lesson packs.
