How the Lessons Work?
Our kids surf lessons last around 2 hours and are always scheduled according to the best tide and the safest sea conditions for learning.
A typical lesson includes:
- Getting ready with wetsuit and surfboard;
- A warm-up and practical explanation on the sand;
- Practice of basic movements before entering the water;
- Time in the ocean with close support from the instructor.
Children are always free to take breaks whenever they need. The focus is on having fun, feeling safe and learning naturally, without pressure.

Are kids surf lessons safe?
Yes. Safety is our top priority. We keep small groups, adapt lessons to the sea conditions and provide close support in the water throughout the session.
Do children need to know how to swim?
It is recommended that children feel comfortable in the water. However, children who can’t swim can still join, as they are always accompanied by an instructor and the lesson takes place in shallow water.
How many children are there per instructor?
For children under 10, we usually work with 1 instructor for every 3 kids. This ratio may be adjusted depending on each child’s needs and the ocean conditions.
How long does a kids surf lesson last?
Each lesson lasts around 2 hours, including preparation on the beach and time in the water.
Where do the lessons take place?
Most kids surf lessons take place at Praia do Pego, in Comporta, where Imagine Surf School is based.
However, depending on ocean and swell conditions, lessons may also take place at other nearby beaches, such as Praia da Comporta, Praia Atlântica or Praia da Aberta Nova.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If conditions are not safe, lessons are rescheduled or fully refunded.
