Winter Surf Lessons
In Winter, through our surfing courses, we intend to develop not only our students´ technical abilities, but also enable them to be true surfers, in all its implications: technically, personally, environmentally conscious, in sharing and within the community.
Surfing is much more than riding a wave. It is a way of living consciously, in harmony with our planet, with all beings and, above all, with the oceans and the waves.
Therefore, we have organized our surfing courses around different modules, always keeping in mind the forecasts from the sea and the availability of the students.
Each module is independent from the others, so if you are absent one day, you can make it up another day.
Preferably every weekend, we will have a surfing lesson and/or a skating lesson (specifically for surfing).
Knowledge to be developed:
- Dynamics of the oceans and the waves;
- Evaluation of meteorological and tidal forecasts;
- Surfing material;
Localism (specific surfing concept); - Surfing rules for competition and recreational surfing;
- Screening of films and documentaries;
- Environmental Consciousness;
- Surfing material;
- Yoga and meditation (optional, as it has an additional cost)
Skating lessons; - Surfing lessons;
- Our team´s creation on the WSL (World Surf League Fantasy-Just Google it)
- Surf Trips;
- Board shapes;
- Beginners´ surfing instruction;
- Participation as surfing instructors in solidarity lessons administered by our school.

Why Choose Private Surf Lessons?
Private surf lessons are the best option if you want fast progression and full attention from your coach.
In this lesson format, your instructor focuses entirely on you: your level, your goals and your learning pace.
In the case of beginning and progressing students, the private surf coach starts by assessing the student’s level, what are their strengths and what are their weaknesses. From this moment on, the trainer draws a training plan 100% adapted to the student’s characteristics, so that each one can evolve within his abilities.
For advanced and independent surfers, the lesson also begins with an individual assessment, but with a stronger focus on technical detail and performance. The goal is to identify what the surfer is already doing well, where there is room for improvement, and how to refine technique more effectively. When relevant, video analysis may also be used to review each wave in detail, helping the student understand mistakes more clearly and progress with greater awareness.

All our surf instructors are certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation (FPS) and IPDJ, with proper training in surf coaching and ocean safety, and a lot of experience in the water.

Where do the surf lessons take place?
Most of our surf lessons take place at Praia do Pego, in Comporta, where Imagine Surf School is based (map here).
However, depending on ocean and swell conditions, lessons may also take place at other nearby beaches, such as Praia da Comporta, Praia Atlântica or Praia da Aberta Nova.
This flexibility allows our instructors to always choose the beach with the best and safest conditions for your surf lesson.
