This often means less time in the water, limited feedback and a slower learning curve.
Our small group surf lessons in Praia do Pego (Comporta) follow a different approach.
By keeping groups small, we create a more structured and supportive learning environment where each student can progress with confidence.

We have a fun and professional team so you can have the best experience out there on the ocean.
All our surf instructors are certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation (FPS) and IPDJ, with proper training in surf coaching and ocean safety, and a lot of experience in the water.

How the Lesson Works?
Our lessons are around 2 hours long, broken down as follows:
- First 30 minutes: getting ready, putting on wetsuits, warming up, and practicing on the sand.
- Next 1h15 minutes: time spent in the water, where you’ll be catching waves and improving your skills.
You’re free to take breaks whenever you need. The focus is on having fun and learning at your own pace.

Group surf lessons cost 50€ per person. However, if you buy one of our packs, you benefit from a discount. Check our price table below.

Where do the surf lessons take place?
Most of our small group surf lessons take place at Praia do Pego, in Comporta, where Imagine Surf School is based (map here).
However, depending on ocean and swell conditions, lessons may also take place at other nearby beaches, such as Praia da Comporta, Praia Atlântica or Praia da Aberta Nova.
This flexibility allows our instructors to always choose the beach with the best and safest conditions for your surf lesson.
How many people are in a small group lesson?
In our small group surf lessons, we keep a low student-to-instructor ratio to ensure safety, attention and a better learning experience. Each instructor teaches a maximum of 4 to 5 students, or up to 3 children under 10 years old.
This means that while the overall group may sometimes be larger, it is always divided into smaller groups with enough instructors to make sure every student gets the support, guidance and supervision they need.

What should I bring to my group surf lesson?

What happens if the weather or ocean conditions are not good?
If a surf lesson is cancelled due to weather or ocean conditions, you will be offered the option to reschedule your lesson or receive a full refund.
